Donor Sabbath weekend is coming up this weekend and Nikki Evans with Donate Life Nebraska says it’s a great opportunity for Faith communities to talk to their congregations about organ and tissue donations.
“Donor Sabbath is an interfaith celebration of life and thanksgiving. National Donor Sabbath is an interfaith celebration of life and thanksgiving. During this celebration, religious leaders are encouraged to discuss the importance of organ, eye and tissue donor with their congregations. This year Donor Sabbath will be observed November 12-14.”
Evans says All major religions in the United States support organ, eye and tissue donation as an act of compassion and generosity.
“To help local Faith Communities share this message with their congregants, Donate Life Nebraska is offering free prayer book markers with facts about donation. Additional Donor Sabbath materials—such as web banners, Power Point slides, articles that can be reprinted in church newsletters, bulletin inserts, and more are available online at www.DonateLifeNebraska.com. Although Donor Sabbath is observed November 12 – 14, these materials are not dated and may be used at any time throughout the year. Faith leaders can request Prayer book markers by emailing DonateLifeNebraska@cox.net.”
