Michael McLeod and Mike Dentlinger combined for 25 points to lead the Nebraska-Kearney men’s basketball team to a 71-63 win at Doane College Tuesday night in Crete.
This was the Lopers season opener. Doane was playing its first-ever game in the new Haddix Center, as the NAIA Tigers drop to 3-1. The Lopers shot 57% from the field including 17 of 23 (73 pct.) in the second half.
It was close game for most of the way as the game featured 12 ties with neither team holding more than a four point lead over the first 35 minutes. The only big run came late as the Lopers outscored the Tigers, 14-5, in the final 5:26.
