The Gene Leahy Mall in Omaha is all dressed up for the season. Thursday night officially kicks off the Holiday Lights Festival in Omaha and organizer Vic Gutman says it has become a community tradition that attracts thousands.
There will be special seating available for the elderly and those with physical disabilities in the public library on the west end of the Mall on the 4th floor.
Along with the official lighting of the Mall, there is a free holiday concert at the Holland Performing Arts Center located to the north of the Mall on Douglas Street. Those attending are also asked to bring along non-perishable foods that will be donated to the Food Bank. The ceremony starts at 6pm.
