A Sidney man scheduled to be sentenced on a felony methamphetamine conviction has been killed. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says 51-year-old Robert G. Lundgreen IV was found dead on the shoulder of I-80 near the Sutherland rest area at about 4:00 a.m. November 27.
Not long after the body was found, deputies located a semi whose driver admitted hitting something on the Interstate but wasn’t sure what it was. He said he couldn’t avoid it because another vehicle was passing. The semi driver is not believed to have been on alcohol or drugs, but his blood was drawn and the investigation continues, but charges are not expected.
Meanwhile, authorities still don’t know why Lundgreen was on the Interstate or how he got there. Sidney acting Police Chief Joe Aikens confirmed to KSID Monday that the victim is the same Robert Lundgreen who was found guilty by bench trial of Possession of Meth with Intent to Deliver or Distribute in August.
Cheyenne County District Court says Lundgreen was scheduled to be sentenced December 14. He was not in custody at the time of his death.
