California Baptist beat Bellevue University in Pool F Tuesday in the opening day of pool play action at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship in Sioux City, IA.
The Lancers were able to prevent an upset by Bellevue (Neb.) with a 25-19, 25-10, 23-25, 22-25, 17-15 win. En route to its 30th win on the season, California Baptist’s Ingrid Carmona put together a strong performance with 27 kills and 13 digs. Wednesday’s action will have Biola and Bellevue at 3:15 p.m.
Concordia (Calif.) secured a win in Pool A over Doane (Neb.) in five sets. After leading 2-1, Doane surrendered a lead in the fourth set and the Eagles never looked back. Concordia head coach Kyle Kvasnicka and his squad stormed to a 15-4 win in the fifth to take the match, 20-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-20, 15-4.
Wednesday’s schedule will see Texas-Brownsville and Doane meet at 5:45 p.m.
