Texas at Brownsville secured a win in Pool B on Wednesday in the second day of pool play action at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
The Scorpions, who have lost just one match on the season, continued its 14-match winning streak with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 win over Doane. Texas at Brownsville’s defense was key in the win, holding the Tigers to a .044 hitting percentage and digging up 68 balls. With the loss, Doane dropped to 0-2.
Biola remained undefeated in pool play by winning in straight sets against Bellevue on Wednesday. The Eagles captured a 25-21, 25-21, 25-17 win with the help of Christine Douglas’ 16 kills and Emily Weingartner and Kim Russell’s combined 21 digs. Despite being held to .158 hitting as a team, Bellevue’s Maureen Wardian had a .407 attack percentage for the match to go along with her 13 kills.
To conclude pool play on Thursday, Bellevue will take on Lindenwood at 1 p.m., which will be the second time the teams have met this season. The two went head-to-head on Sept. 24 and the Lions took away a victory in four sets.
