The 10th ranked Wayne State women’s basketball team moved to 6-0 in Northern Sun Conference play with a 79-60 road win at Minnesota-Crookston. Minnesota native, Senior Mara Hjelle recorded her third double-double of the year with 15 points and a career high 19 rebounds. The top 10 ranking is the highest in Wildcat women’s history.
Nebraska Omaha hockey goalie John Faulkner set a new school record for shutouts, leading the Mavs to a 3-0 win over Colorado College on Sunday night. The Mavericks enter the Christmas break with a record of 12-5-1 and a mark of 9-4-1 in the WCHA, as Faulkner stopped 24 shots to earn his fourth shutout of the season, breaking Dan Ellis’ school record of three set in two different seasons.

Former Husker All-American gymnast Burkett Powell was found dead in his northwest Lincoln home Saturday afternoon. He was 38. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday afternoon, but results were not available.
