The Midland University men’s basketball team defeated the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves in GPAC action Wednesday night at the Midland Event Center, 61-59.
With the score tied at 59, with seven second remaining, Zach Rosenboom hit a 12-foot baseline jumper to put the Warriors up 61-59. After a timeout, Nebraska Wesleyan pushed the ball down the floor and into the hands of Bryce Arp, who was fouled by Midland’s Brian Liekhus with one second remaiing. Shooting the one-and-one, Arp missed the front-end attempt and P.J. Mallette grabbed the rebound at midcourt to secure the win.
The Warriors were led in scoring by Marcus Messersmith with 20 points. Zach Rosenboom scored 11. Nebraska Wesleyan was led by Bryce Arp with 13 points. Eric Jackson scored 11.
Nebraska Wesleyan is 5-7 and 1-4 in the GPAC. Midland is 5-13 and 1-5 in the league. The Warriors will host University of Sioux Falls, Saturday, January 8th at 4pm
