Nebraska-Kearney women’s basketball coach Kevin Chaney named Mia Johnson as a new Lopers assistant coach. She joins a coaching staff that includes graduate assistant coach Jenny Gilman.
As a player, Johnson played at Michigan State (2006-09) and Saint Louis U. (2004-05). For the Billikens, she averaged a team-best 17.1 points per game to be named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team. Johnson also was tabbed team MVP that year as well.
In East Lansing, she made 60 starts over three seasons, was a two-time team captain and was chosen team MVP as a senior. A two-time Big 10 All-Academic selection, Johnson played on two NCAA Tournament teams with the ’09 Spartans reaching the Sweet 16.
