The eleventh ranked Nebraska Kearney wrestling team upset Central Oklahoma, 21-15, Thursday night in the Health & Sports Center. Nebraska Kearney improves to 11-2 on the season in duals. Nebraska Kearney has won the last three meetings and ended Central Oklahoma’s ten win dual streak.
UNK scored the first points of the dual by getting a win by the fourth ranked sophomore Josh Smith’s decision over Zach Housley by the score of 10-5. UCO would score there first points at 133 pounds when seventh ranked Trison Graham earned an one point decision over sophomore Stephen Weimer 9-8.
After getting a forfeit win at 141 pounds, second ranked junior T.J. Hepburn (had to fight out of an early hole to earn a pin at the 5:21 mark over Austin Standage to give the Lopers 15-3 advantage over the Bronchos and never looked back from there.
Nebraska-Kearney returns to action Saturday night against top ranked Nebraska Omaha.
