A man being held as a “person of interest” in the death of a teenage girl in southwest Nebraska has now been charged with her death.
Eighteen-year-old Stathis Kirkpatrick of Bartley appeared in Red Willow County Court on Thursday, charged with killing 14-year-old Kailee Clapp of McCook.
Clapp was reported missing the morning of January 21st when her mother found she was missing from their home. Her body was found that evening at a cemetery in Bartley, a town about 17 miles east-northeast of McCook.
Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood alleges that Kirkpatrick used a knife or other deadly weapon, either deliberately or during a kidnapping.
Kirkpatrick is charged with first-degree murder, a weapons count, tampering with evidence and unlawful burial.
