Residents living in Nebraska legally for less than five years, but who have not become U.S. Citizens will have to find another way to get help with things like food and medical care under a bill before the health and human services committee. The bill is recommended by the Governor to save the state about four million dollars as HHS spokesman Todd Reckling explains.
“The department would save about $3.9 million annually through this change. The approximate number of people affected is 2,000.”
Reckling says the state feels there are enough other services out there to help these residents.
