Lt. Governor Rick Sheehy’s son continues to recover from an accidental shooting. Sheehy released an update on the condition of his 21 year old son, Joel. Sheehy says Joel underwent the first of several surgeries to repair facial fractures yesterday. This surgery repaired a fracture to his upper jaw. He will be back in surgery Friday afternoon. The release also states that Joel is in stable condition.
Omaha police confirmed that Joel was handling a firearm inside his Omaha apartment when it accidently discharged. The bullet entered his right front cheek and exited behind his right ear. The gun was a 9mm Glock, registered to Joel. He does have a permit to purchase firearms.
