NU freshman Jordan Hooper shares this week’s Big 12 women’s player of the week honors with Brittany Chambers of Kansas State and Chassidy Fussell of Texas. Hooper averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in Nebraska’s games against Missouri and Colorado last week.
She scored 31 points, 28 in the second half, and grabbed eight rebounds in a 76-69 loss at Missouri – matching Kelsey Griffin for the second-most points by a freshman in school history. The 6-2 forward tied the NU record with seven three-pointers, including six in the second half to help Nebraska erase a 17-point halftime deficit and take a 1-point lead with less than five minutes left.
For the game, Hooper hit 8-of-16 shots from the field, including 7-of-12 three-pointers. She was also 8-for-8 at the free throw line, while grabbing eight rebounds. She blocked one shot and added a steal in 26 minutes as she played just seven minutes in the first half. Hooper’s seven threes against MU pushed her season total to 47, surpassing the previous Nebraska freshman record of 46 made by Anna DeForge in 1994-95.
She added a team-high 14 points and five rebounds in Sunday’s loss at Colorado.
