The NU softball team went 5-1 in their opening weekend in Tempe Arizona. Their lone loss came against number on Arizona on Friday, a 6-1 loss, but NU capped the weekend with a 4-1 win over Oregon State yesterday, and a 3-2 nine inning with over #18 Standford and a 3-1 win over Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
Freshman twin sisters Tatum and Taylor Edwards both homered in the final game of the Kajikawa Classic at the Tempe Sports Complex.
Taylor hit a two run homer in the first inning and Tatum added a solo shot in the fourth. The home runs made a winner out of junior right-hander Ashley Hagemann, who improved to 4-1 on the season with a strong relief effort. In 5.0 innings of scoreless relief, Hagemann did not allow a hit and struck out four.
