Teachers and administrators would be able to carry guns to work under a bill being considered by the Judiciary committee. It is being carried by Imperial Senator Mark Christensen. Senator Brenda Council says students would worry if their teacher was carrying a weapon while trying to teach.
“And i’m just thinking about the impact on the educational environment to have someone standing in front of the classroom day after day carrying a side arm. What are the youngsters going to be focusing on?”
One man who supports the bill, says he lives in rural Nebraska where there are no school resource officers and no one would be able to fire back if a student wanted to start firing inside the school.
