It was a close game all the way to the end. Neither team led by more than six and Jorge Brian-Diaz’ free throw with over two minutes to play gave the Huskers the lead for good as Nebraska held off Oklahoma 59-58 in a wild finish Wednesday night in Norman, OK.
The Huskers had build a 53-47 lead thanks to a 7-0 run late in the game, but two 3-pointers by OU tied the game at 53-53. Jorge, who scored a season high 17, split a pair of free throws for the one point lead and NU increased their lead to four, but OU crept back in the final seconds.
The Sooners thought they had tied the game on Cade Davis’ long range shot. In fact, officials ruled it was a three-pointer that would have tied the game, and send it into overtime, but replays showed it was just a two, preserving the NU win.
The win ended a 13-game conference road losing streak and giving Nebraska its first win in Norman since 1999.
