Mild temperatures in February has bike fans wanting to hit the trails. Before you take your bike on the road make sure it is in good shape. The Bike Rack’s service manager Evan Johnson says give your bike a quick maintenance check before taking it for a ride.
“Check your tires. Tires do lose air over time. Probably needs to be pumped up a bit.”
Johnson says also check out the brakes.
“Just take a look at the pads. Make sure they are not worn down extremely far. If they are squeaking, they may need to be adjusted a little bit. Might need to be cleaned up.”
If you have a multi-gear bike and it isn’t shifting properly, Johnson suggests you take it to a mechanic to have it adjusted.
“If they are skipping, I would bring it in to be looked at. It might need just a minor adjustment there.”
Johnson says also check to make sure your wheels are not wobbling as that could mean the tension isn’t set right.
