Nebraska center Andre Almeida was named Co-Rookie of the Week after averaging 6.0 points on 85 percent shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game in helping Nebraska to a 2-0 record, including a win over No. 3 Texas on Saturday.
He scored 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting against Texas with five rebounds and two blocks in 15 minutes off the bench. Almeida had six points and three rebounds in a 14-5 spurt to open the second half, as Nebraska erased a seven-point halftime deficit. Almeida is the first Husker honored by the league this season.
Almeida shared the honor with Iowa State’s Jake Anderson, while Kansas State’s Jacob Pullen was named Big 12 Player of the Week.
