Second round debate has wrapped up on a bill to take away state aid from cities, counties, and natural resource districts. The bill advances on second round. Senator Laroy Louden of Ellsworth says it will put counties in a pinch.
“I won’t name the county, but I know there are one or two counties taht if they have someone picked up for drunken driving and that person asks for a jury trial that county would turn them loose because they don’t have the money for a jury trial.”
The bill would save the state $44 million dollars.
