The federal Defense of Marriage Act no longer has a defender in the White House. Family First Executive Director Dave Bydalek told us, the decision was a surprise.
“I thinjk the American people have the right to expect their laws be defended by the very people whose very job it is to do so – and in this case, the executive branch of Government, the Government officials.”
The Obama administration says from now on, it won’t claim in court that the law banning recognition of same-sex marriage is constitutional. Bydalek says Congress will likely intervene and defend the law.
