Creighton Bluejay junior Reese McGraw was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week. The junior college transfer from Garden City Community College, picked up two wins and two saves on the mound last week.
In the five wins this last week, McGraw made four appearances, finishing the week with two wins and a team season high two saves. He had a 0.00 ERA through the 7.0 innings pitched last week, pitching nearly perfect on the mound. McGraw has not allowed a run in any of his six appearances thur far on the season and has proven himself as the lead candidate for Creighton’s closer spot.
McGraw leads the Bluejay pitching staff with two saves, six appearances, six games finished and is tied for the top spot in ERA (0.00), wins (2) and runs allowes (0).
Junior Kylie Hovinga of the Creighton softball team has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week after a five-inning no-hitter against Centenary on Friday and then four scoreless innings of relief against UT Arlington to pick up a pair of wins at the event in Texas.
For the week Hovinga went 2-0, allowing only two hits in nine scoreless innings of work. On the season she is now 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA and seven hits allowed in 11.2 innings pitched.
