After approaching Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne about the death of her father in a drunk driving crash, Osborne is testifying in front of the Judiciary committee so that the woman’s loss is not in vain. Osborne is in support of a bill that would require Nebraska bars to carry dram shop insurance. This would allow bars who over serve to pay damages if a tragedy occurs.
“It woudl be irresponsible to provide a mentally impaired person with a loaded gun, you wouldn’t know how that person would interact with the public, it’s similairly irresponsible to let someone drink to the point of intoxication and then get behind the wheel of an automobile.”
43 other states already have Dram shop laws.
