Dig the snow shovel back out.
“We have a couple of storm systems that will be affecting eastern Nebraska and western Iowa this week.”
National Weather Service in Valley Meteorologist Josh Bowstead (like HOW) says the snow that is falling now won’t amount to much with very little accumulation. However, there is another storm heading this way.
“That will bring much heavier precipitation to the area. The key question is what kind of precipitation that will be.”
Bowstead says the second storm could bring a wintery mix to parts of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
“It looks like a lot of that will follow the rain – snow mix during the day on Tuesday before switching to all snow Tuesday night.”
Bowstead says if you are traveling to the north and west of the metro area, be prepared for heavier snowfall.
“Just northwest of the metro area, where it looks like it will remain mostly snow, there could be significantly higher accumulations that what we are going to see in the metro area.”
Winter Weather Advisories and Storm Watches have been posted for several areas, generally to the north and west of the metro area.
