A special memorial ceremony will be held this evening in Plattsmouth. Mayor Paul Lambert says a memorial street sign will be erected for a fallen Nebraska soldier outside his former home.
“So, under the Pleasant Drive sign there will be a large sign that will be the Blame E. Redding Memorial Drive.”
Redding died in combat action in Afghanistan June 7th of last year. Redding is among five soldiers killed when their truck was blasted in Afghanistan. Lambert says several of Redding’s family will attend the ceremony.
“Specialist Redding’s widow will be there. His mother will be there and also his brother, Logan, who is in the U-S Army will be there.”
Lambert says the sign will be placed on the street where Redding grew up.
“He grew up here in Plattsmouth. He worked for several businesses here in Plattsmouth and then joined the U-S Army.”
