National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Chermak for most of the day we will see a wintry mix of precipitation.
“The precipitation will change over to snow this evening by six or seven o’clock in the Omaha area.”
Chermak says by sunset, snow will fly.
“Some briefly moderate or heavy snow this evening, early overnight hours and then should be tapering off tomorrow morning.”
Chermak says because of the warmer temperatures, the snow will first melt but then start to accumulate.
“Initially, you’ll get some melting because temperatures will be at or a little above freezing but then eventually it will start sticking.”
Chermak says shovels or snow blowers will get a workout.
“We are looking at three to five inches across the area.”
Temperatures are expected to fall below the freezing mark tonight.
