Goodwill Industries wants to get people back into the work force and they are hosting a job fair this Wednesday, March 23rd in Omaha. Goodwill’s Projects with Industry Project Coordinator Sherry Albert says many area employers are looking for people to fill positions so job seekers need to be prepared.
“Local employers will be at Goodwill headquarters ready to talk to people looking for employment opportunities. Job seekers should be coming dressed to impress, ready to talk to employers and fill out applications.”
Albert says at this time about 25 businesses are taking part. Some of them include Marriott Reservation Center, West Corp, First Data, Mutual of Omaha, Coca-Cola, Ameristar, Home Depot, Hay Needle, Goodwill Industries and more.
“Last time Goodwill had a job fair we had nearly 600 people attend. We will also have Goodwill’s Internet Cafe open and that will be available for job seekers to fill out applications on line.”
Albert says Goodwill Industries is ready to help those not quite ready to enter the work force or have been without a job for a while.
“We have many different programs. The Ready Program is one that will help any job seeker. Then we have more specific programs catered to more specific populations.”
Albert says they individualize programs as well.
“Our programs can cater anywhere from anyone who doesn’t have much work history all the way to people who have college degrees. The Ready Program is very individualized to what the person is looking for and what they need assistance with.”
The job fair again is Wednesday, March 23rd from 10 am until 2 pm. It will be held at Goodwill headquarters at 4805 North 72nd Street near Ames Avenue in Omaha.
