It would be against the law for not storing your weapon properly, if it is used by a juvenile to hurt themselves or another person under legislation before the Judiciary Committee. Senator Brad Ashford of Omaha brought the bill. Wesley Dickinson is opposed to the bill.
“The U.S. Government accounting office stated that after they looked at data gun locks on the triggers and the muzzels are only effective for children under seven, over that age they found that juveniles were able to defeat those storage and lock devices.”
The deadly shooting at Millard South High School was brought up during the hearing. In that case, the high school shooter got the gun from his father who is an Omaha police officer.
