Spring is officially here and it is time to put the heavy coats and boots away and break out the tackle box. Greg Wagner is the spokesman for Nebraska Game and Parks and says they are getting ready for the season and have stocked 18 ponds and lakes with rainbow trout.
“They are easily caught. The kids love them. These are 10 to 10 1/2 inch fish we are stocking in 18 locations including 37-thousand of them including Hallick Park pond in Papillion.”
Wagner says one state park is already seeing a lot of activity and now is the perfect time to fish for trout.
“We have one trout lake open right now. That is the Two River’s State Recreation Area trout lake and people have enjoyed great success because of the cool water temperatures and the warm air temperatures.”
Along with Hallick Park in Papillion, Wagner says they stocked Mahoney, Fremont State Lake Number two, Qwest Lake and many others. Remember to get your park permits and have proper licenses in place.
