The 14th ranked Nebraska softball swept a double header from UTEP, 8-0 and 16-0. Freshman Tatum Edwards was the winning pitcher in game two, and she also hit a home run in the first game.
In the second game, Edwards threw four scoreless innings, allowing only four hits to improve to 5-0 on the season. She went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a homer, four runs scored and four RBIs. Her three hits and four RBIs were both career highs, while her four runs scored tied the school record.
Tatum Edwards was one of five Huskers to finish with at least two hits in the game, as Nebraska produced 15 hits. The Huskers also scored 16 runs for the second time in four games and for only the fifth time in school history.
In the first game, junior right-hander Ashley Hagemann tossed a two-hit shutout and freshman twins Tatum and Taylor Edwards each homered.
Hagemann tossed her sixth shutout of the season, exceeding her career total from her first two seasons combined. She added a season-high 12 strikeouts, while improving to 18-2 on the season.
