Creighton (20-5) pulled off a come-from-behind victory on Sunday, using a Trever Adams single in the bottom of the 9th inning to sweep the Portland Pilots (10-14) on the weekend. The Jays won 4-3 on Sunday, in the closest game of the series, needing two runs in the bottom of the last inning to earn the win. Adams finished the day two for five with two RBI and a run scored, while Mutcheson picked up three hits, one RBI and scored the game winning runs.
The Jays found themselves down 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning. Chance Ross led off the inning with an infield single, dribbling one down the third base line that he hustled out and was safe at first. Joey Bowens then sacrifice bunted Ross to second base. With one out and a runner on secontd, Michael Mutcheson picked up his second hit of the day, a single to left center that scored Ross easily from second. Swift then reached, pounding a hard ball at the shortstop, and forcing an errant throw. With two runners on base, Adams hit a ball straight back up the middle, scoring Mutcheson from second and giving the Jays the 4-3 win.
