Freshmen Brittanee Grove and Ellen Homan each collected their first career home run and sophomore Amy Baker crushed the 30th of her career as the Creighton softball team cruised to a 9-1 run-rule victory over North Dakota Tuesday afternoon at the Creighton Sports Complex. The win gave the Bluejays a doubleheader sweep of the Fighting Sioux, following a 6-3 win in the opener.
The victory also moved the Bluejays above .500 for the first time in over a month, with an 18-17 record.
The Bluejays, who have now hit 10 home runs in five home games this season, will host 12th-ranked Nebraska (30-6) on Wednesday. The Huskers took the first game of the series this year, 7-2 on March 30 in Lincoln. First pitch at the CU Sports Complex for the rivalry game is set for 6 pm.
