The Huskers had six individuals compete at the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Event Finals in Cleveland, OH. Sunday afternoon bringing the 2011 Nebraska women’s gymnastics season to a close. The day was highlighted with a third-place finish from senior Erin Davis on vault.
Davis competed on two events for the Huskers on Sunday. In the vault finals she averaged a 9.8188 between her two vaults to put her in third-place and earn a spot in the Husker record books. In the final routine of her Husker career and as the second competitor to perform on floor, Davis posted a 9.775 for 12th-place.
Junior Lora Evenstad, who became a two-time All-American at the 2011 NCAA Championships with her first-team selection on floor, finished 11th.
Sophomore Janelle Giblin averaged a 9.80 on her two vaults to put her in a tie for fifth place.
Senior Maria Scaffidi ended her Husker career by competing at the event finals for the first time, placing 10th with a score of 9.825 on the bars.
Freshman Jamie Schleppenbach averaged a 9.7375 on her two vaults during event finals competition putting her in 12th.
Freshman Emily Wong made her event finals debut with a mark of 9.8125 on bars to place 11th.
