At an SCC Board meeting held in Lincoln Tuesday, the board approved the bid of Cheever Construction, to construct the proposed V-Section addition to the Lincoln Campus…..at a cost of over $7 million. The student center and classroom addition will be built onto the area northeast of the campus main entrance.
On-site work is scheduled to begin May 23rd, with the project expected to be finished by July 1st, 2012. The cost per square foot is about $118, compared with $100 per square foot when the school built its last addition onto the Lincoln campus, eight years ago.
The SCC Board also approved purchase of space the college has been leasing in downtown Lincoln……a portion of what’s known as the Centrum Building.
The board approved the purchase on a unanimous vote. That will give the school ownership of three properties in Lincoln…..the main campus, the downtown site…and the Continuing Education Center.
