After jumping out to a 4-0 lead the Husker baseball team held off the Iowa Hawkeyes for a 7-3 midweek win at Hawks Field on Tuesday night.
Patric Tolentino’s home run, his second of the year, scored Josh Scheffert to give NU a 6-3 lead after Iowa cut the NU lead to a 4-3 game in the seventh. Scheffert tripled to finish the night 3-for-4 night. NU added an insurance run in the eighth on a Kash Kalkowski’s RBI single.
Casey Hauptman threw 2.1 scoreless innings to earn his sixth save and improve NU to 21-0 when leading after six innings. The Huskers are now 26-16 on the season. NU will host Baylor this weekend.
