For the second straight Friday, a hometown hero is laid to rest in the Omaha metro area. Funeral services were held this morning for Army Specialist Joseph Cemper (SEM-per), a native of Papillion. Larry Storer stood outside Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church this morning to show support for Cemper’s family.
“I try to get by to most all of these to say goodbye. I didn’t serve myself but I believe in everything they do.”
Storer says attending the service a young man killed in action is a tough thing to have to do and feels for his family. He thinks everyone should do the same.
“It’s a shame we have to do that but we need to recognize those who have given our lives for our country. That is the price we have to pay and I think we should all recognize that.”
Cemper was killed April 16th in Afghanistan and had just recently become a father. He was laid to rest at Cedar Dale Cemetery in Papillion.
