Two junior college transfers, Bill Freeman and Jacques Coleman (pronounced jay-KEYS), have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Nebraska-Omaha men’s basketball team in 2011-12. The duo comes to UNO after beginning their careers at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Freeman is a 6-4, 195-pound guard/forward from Des Moines, Iowa, while Coleman is a 5-11, 160-pound guard from Milwaukee, Wis. In 2011, they helped Ellsworth to an 18-13 overall record and a 9-5 mark in league play. In 2010, the Panthers won the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) championship and ranked 13th in the NJCAA final poll.
Coleman appeared in all 30 games for ECC last year, averaging 8.3 points 3.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. As a sophomore, he totaled 249 points, and his 95 assists led Ellsworth for the year. Coleman also finished with 45 steals, second only to Freeman (47).
