A southeast Nebraska man convicted on sexual assault and child pornography charges is being sentenced to a lengthy prison term. Frank Hardy of Wymore was sentenced to a total of 75 to 95 years in prison. In February, Hardy pleaded no contest to the charges, including first-degree and third-degree sexual assault of a child. The sentencing stems from a Gage County investigation that found Hardy sexually assaulted two girls and photographed the incidents. In 2006, a bill passed by the state legislature increased penalties for sex crimes against children under 12, making the most serious offenses punishable by 15 years to life. Before, there was no mandatory minimum penalty.
