Wayne State senior Hannah Engelkamp had a pinch-hit two run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Wildcats past Concordia-St. Paul 4-3 in the first round of the NSIC Softball Tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota Thursday afternoon.
Katie Goetzinger picked up the win for the ‘Cats throwing her 20th complete game of the season improving to 28-6 on the mound. The win moves the Wildcats to 35-13. Wayne State had only two hits on the game going into the sixth inning, but the Wildcats managed three in the sixth inning to take that 4-2 lead.
Wayne State will be in action again on Friday as WSC will play Minnesota Duluth at 10:00 AM at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the winner’s bracket semi-finals of the NSIC Tournament.
