Kansas Wesleyan University avoided elimination in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round-Lubbock Bracket tournament with seven unanswered runs, as they eliminated Hastings College (Neb.) 7-1 Friday night at Hays Field.
Nine different Coyotes had at least a hit in the game, with Adam Jones leading the team with a pair of runs-batted-in.
They also received a complete game from Connor Freeman, who allowed one run off seven hits in nine innings pitched.
Hastings was plagued with an Opening Round record eight errors.
Hastings closes out their season with a 29-24 record. They were making their first NAIA postseason appearance in program history.
Kansas Wesleyan (36-16) will play another elimination game Saturday at 1 p.m. against Northwood University, with the winner advancing to play Lubbock Christian University in the championship game.
