Senators are celebrating a long night of discussions two nights ago in which Speaker Mike Flood of Norfolk included people walking out and even pens being thrown. Speaker Flood says despite that, an agreed upon amendment with the reform of the Commission on Industrial Relations between members of the business community, labor, and Senators has been reached. The bill is advancing on second round.
“And at times it was uncomfortable, I want to say today what this amendment….represents is the Nebraska approach to solving problems like this.”
The range of pay for employees has been set at 98 to 102 percent in normal times and in a time of recession, the range dips down to 95-percent. That addresses concerns that public employees were seeing pay hikes in times when others were seeing their pay decrease.
