The University of Nebraska announces the first phase of Innovation Campus development. It amounts to $80 million in public and private investments. UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman says the first phase will focus on renovating, or building from scratch, four buildings.
Perlman says the funds gets the University over the hurdle and start with the critical massive structure and infrastructure that the University can move forward on to sell to private sector companies.
Zack Wiegert with the Woodbury Group says the announcement is about more than the buildings. He says it’s more than the buildings… it’s about the new technologies and the jobs created in the buildings they build.
Perlman says private companies have been waiting for plans to be unveiled before getting into serious discussions about locating at Innovation Campus.
