Adjutant General Judd Lyons tells us that soldiers are already involved in several precautionary activities. Lyons says they currently have 26 soldiers and two Black Hawk helicopters out in the North Platte area. They’ve been joined by another Black Hawk from Colorado.
General Lyons says what the soldiers are doing is working aerial sandbag operations on a levy that breached just to the west of the city of North Platte along Highway 30.
General Lyons says the concern there is highway 30 and the Union Pacific Railroad line. He says they also have critical assessment teams working closely with the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency and Fema in accessing critical infrastructure at various locations in the state.
