Omaha reliever Jeremy Jeffress (1-3) recorded just one out in the frame, giving up seven runs – six earned – on five hits and a walk, while also committing a fielding error on a bunt and allowing a grand slam.
Mike Aviles had a big night for the Storm Chasers, going 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and all four runs batted in. Lorenzo Cain went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the ninth, his third consecutive game with a homer, while Jarrod Dyson went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and scored twice. Clint Robinson added a pair of base hits to raise his batting average to .347, snapping a two-game hitless string after hitting safely in 12-straight games entering the series.
Omaha starter Mario Santiago left after allowing a lead-off single in the eighth. Santiago battled through his seven-plus innings, ultimately allowing two runs on eight hits. He walked four and struck out three, throwing 93 pitches in the outing.
