The two finalists for the NCAA baseball championship, Florida and South Carolina, held their final practices at TD Ameritrade Park Sunday afternoon before the best of three championship series Monday night.
The Gamecocks learned they might be without their star first baseman Christian Walker. Walker, the team’s leading hitter, home run hitter and RBI guy injured his left wrist in his final at bat Friday night. He could not complete his first batting practice round Sunday because of the pain.
If Walker is out, the Gamecocks likely would move catcher Robert Beary and shift DH Brady Thomas to catcher. Tonight’s starters will be sophomore righthander Hudson Randall (11-3, 2.24 ERA) for Florida against freshman righthander Forrest Koumas (6-1, 3.07) ERA for South Carolina. Florida is the designated home team for tonight’s game.
