Two former and one current Husker produced a strong showing in competition in multiple national meets on Saturday. 2011 senior Chantae McMillan competed at the USA Championships in Eugene, Ore., while 2011 senior Nicholas Gordon competed in the long jump at the Jamaican National Championships along with freshman Chad Wright who threw the discus at the championships in Kingston, Jamaica.
McMillan began the women’s heptathlon and finished the day in seventh with a total of 3,502 points. A native of Rolla, Mo., she will complete the heptathlon competition on Sunday afternoon.
Gordon, a five-time All-American at Nebraska, took third in the men’s long jump with a leap of 26-0. Gordon was previously the 2009 NCAA Indoor Long Jump National Champion and competed at the 2008 Jamaican Olympic Trials in the long jump.
Wright, who was named a 2011 All-American on discus, also competed at the Jamaican National Championships. With a discus throw of 182-2, Wright took third at the championships on Saturday evening.
