It’s official, Nebraska is in the B1G!
Governor Dave Heineman has declared today “Big Red in the Big Ten” day to celebrate Nebraska’s entry into the Big Ten Conference. The Governor says the move puts UNL in great company both in academics and athletics.
Governor Heineman says when you win the Big Ten championship in football, you are likely to play for the National Championship. He says the University of Nebraska and its fans would be honored to win a National Championship for the Big Ten.
The Governor adds “The sooner the better”.
Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney and several presidents from other Big Ten institutions sent welcoming messages to Nebraska.
Chancellor Harvey Perlman read messages from several Big Ten university presidents and from Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney.
Perlman reads that the Big Ten is delighted to include the Cornhuskers among its members and looks forward to adding Nebraska’s history of academics and athletic excellence to the conference’s rich tradition.
