Senator Nelson insists that both sides are playing games in the debt ceiling negotiations in Washington.
Nelson tells reporters on a weekly conference call that it will take more than closing so-called corporate tax loopholes to reduce the deficit. He favors reforming the corporate tax structure.
“If you are going to reform taxes, you have to go through the process of looking at the so-called loopholes in connection with the corporate income tax rate to make companies and businesses competitive and to grow jobs,” according to Nelson.
Nelson says the key is cutting the budget.
“The idea that you’re going to able to balance the budget in one year with a bunch of tax hikes; it’s got going to happen,” Nelson says.
Nelson says the White House has failed to adequately explain the necessity of raising the debt limit by August 2nd.
