Pat Trettel hit his first home run and Garrett Sherrill was terrific in relief but the Saltdogs let one get away losing to the Kansas City T-Bones 7-5 in 11 innings at Haymarket Park Tuesday night. Trettel’s home run was a solo shot to right to lead off the second inning. Lincoln had a 5-2 lead after a Phil Hawke double in the fifth inning but from there the T-Bones responded. Johnny Bowden laced a two-out, two-run single to tie the score in the sixth and T-Bones tallied for two in the top of the 11th to even the series at a game a piece.
Steven Stewart (3-3) pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. Paul Koss (1-4) allowed two runs in two innings to suffer the loss. Sherrill tossed three hitless innings, striking out three.
Gavin Dickey was ejected from the game in the first inning arguing balls and strikes. Two T-Bones players and their manager were tossed in the late innings.
The Saltdogs are now 0-3 in extra-inning contests, all of which have been at home this year.
