“I have never broken a bone in my body and I have never had surgery before,” Prince Amukamara said after suffering his first fracture, which will force him into his initial operation. Amukamara, the cornerback whom the New York Giants took with the 19th overall pick in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft, broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot.
No schedule has been set yet on his surgery, but he’s trying to remain upbeat. “It’s definitely a little adversity I’m going to have to deal with.” Amukamara has just signed his contract the day before suffering the injury. “I still have high expectations with the Giants and high expectations for myself, so it’s just all about focusing on the things I can control and getting better in my rehab, and still staying in the playbook.”
